I think every streetlight in this place have an Independent automatic switch (Photocell in this case). In Israel in Haifa at least i have never seen only one streetlight dayburning. In Haifa for example every suburb have the streetlights group switched on/off by a one time switch so there is no cases of one dayburner in Haifa and in Israel at all. In Israel dayburners appears as a group of many streetlight, and not in this case. Also in Israel most cases of dayburning groups of streetlights is not a malfunction at all. The Electricians do this intentionally in case they want to replace lamps.
Around here we do not have a serious problem of dayburners because the electrical company I have does a very good job....But the neighborhing electric company you'll see one or a few dayburners on almost EVERY road!
Xcel energy SUCKS with dayburners. YOu see one dayburning everywhere. And some hve been dayburning forabout a year! (I know of an M-400 a2 FCO that has been dyburning for a year about.)
I am glad this one isn't dayburning anymore. This one got fixed. But Still that M-400 a2 on Kipling has been dayburning for a YEAR (Litarally!) and still is TODAY! >.>
Yeah. Some get reported. This light doesn't even light up anymore. And they replaced the pole with a wood pole with a tapered elliptical arm. Since they are working on the road. They are widening this part of the road.
We don't have group replacement here, and I'm glad. In my opinion, group relplacement is a waste of parts unless every single light has the same problem.
not really a good idea. Good, working lamps will get replaced while other non-working lumes will be out for months. Single unit serviceing is better in my opinion.
Yeah, but remember utilities have to manage thousands of streetlights and they can't keep track of which ones are out...group relamping at the rated life would help ensure that the most of the lights are functioning.
Plus when the relamping happens the majority of the lamps will almost be done, besides it's not like they don't repair lights that get reported out, they still do that as well.
Well, while both have their benefits and drawbacks, I personally don't like group serviceing. It's a waste. As you said Niall, they will still fix a light if it's out. When group replacemant happens, that new lamp will be replaced again. Unless the lights are mercury vapor, it's not economical to do that. National Grid is a huge elecrical company, so it's true that it's hard for them to keep track of out lights and stuff, but they rely on mainly reports. They don't go around and look for lights in need of service. If they happen to bump into one that's out, they'll fix it, but other than that, it's pretty much up to the residency to report lights.
Here in Cape Coral, Florida, They do group servicing at night. I saw the electric company driving down a busy road near my house a few weeks ago, and they stopped to repair any light that they saw cycling, or completely out. They do pretty good maintaining the streetlights here. When i was talking to the guy from the electric company who gave me the OVF and the OVC, he said when the linemen have nothing else to do, it's their job to drive around looking for streetlights that need to be repaired.
This is taken care of CDOT I could guess, Or Xcel energy, I don't know, All I am CERTAIN is that WL contractors moved this light on the utility pole.
I wonder why they didn't keep the light pole that is in this picture..
