Not really much better than 400 watts, it should only have a 175 watt lamp maximum. I personally wouldn't use the OVX at all, it's low quality and looks incredibly ugly in full cutoff.
I've seen a bunch of FCO OVXs on the way to Montreal today, they where along the 401 and where on 50 foot metal poles (tall!) I was a bit surprised by the MTO using them like that.
Actually reacently I have been seeing drop lens AEL 125's being installed, a few went up on the 410 ramps in Brampton to replaced GE M400A's and FCO Hubbell RLC's that had dead ballasts (after having a lamp's for more then two years)
I noticed that too...maybe MTO changed their preference, BTW I've noticed from older pics that MTO used to use a lot of Powerlites back in the 60s and 70s.
I am noticing MD state has seemed to started using AE 325s as replacements and brand new installations for common types in 250 watt HPS.....my nearest intersection got 5 OVX replaced with AE 325s....the OVX was installed in 1998...apparently they burnt out...I also saw a new traffic light setup with two AE 325s also...
For MD state, they NEVER used 400 watt HPS OVX...only 250 watt..they use either GE M-400R3 or OVF.....
To ME The OVX looks pretty good in FCO. I kinda prefer it in FCO than drop lens, but I like both. (I am like Geoff here as he said on LG a while ago. xD)
The only problem with the OVX FCO is that there is a small angle (not as big as the model 25's) and the reflector is the same as the drop lens versions.

But I like it either way. xD
