A CMH R47???
Here's my R47 after a quick retrofit from 250w MV to 70w CMH, The CMH lamp that I have is a medium base one so I had to use a socket reducer and a socket extender to centre the lamp. The ballast is the same one in the ballast tray that I posted earlier today.

The R47 looks pretty good in CMH, it even looks a bit like a /DX merc from afar although MV looks a bit blueish and is a bit greener (the lamp actually looks more like this when lit). Looks like CMH retrofits quite nicely into existing streetlight fixtures IMO.

Thanks, too bad the utilities don't use CMH.

Yeah, CMH is good stuff from what I hear. I haven't seen it yet in person.

I bet this isn't as bright as a 250w MV though.

There are now CMH street lights here in Southern California. Smile

Cool, I don't think any utilities here use CMH to the best of my knowledge.

Is CMH lamps more $$$ than regular PMH lamps?
joe_347V   [Aug 18, 2011 at 11:23 PM]
I think they're more expensive but if you buy them online you can get a 70w CMH cheaper than what the box store would sell a 70w quartz MH for.

This one came with a 50w MH recessed light from Restore though.
Not sure why they put a 70w lamp in...

Did your 250w ballast die or something? Or was it just too bright?
