400 watt MV GE and AE! This is a PAL light which is leased by my local electrical company.... You see an AE 125 from circa 1988-1989 (from my knowledge from what I saw growing up[b]*[/b]) and a replacement GE M-400R3 with a sag lens! It lights up a parking lot along with a few other AE 125s [b]*[/b] = from when I was growing up, I have observed for 400 watt MV, my local electric company used OVM as MV in the mid 80s, AE 125s in the late 80s, OVX in the early 90s, GE M-400R2 in mid 90s and finally the last 400 watt MV used are the GE M-400R3 with sag lens.... This is a PAL light which is leased by my local electrical company....

You see an AE 125 from circa 1988-1989 (from my knowledge from what I saw growing up*) and a replacement GE M-400R3 with a sag lens! It lights up a parking lot along with a few other AE 125s

* = from when I was growing up, I have observed for 400 watt MV, my local electric company used OVM as MV in the mid 80s, AE 125s in the late 80s, OVX in the early 90s, GE M-400R2 in mid 90s and finally the last 400 watt MV used are the GE M-400R3 with sag lens....

I remember seeing Duquesne Light and Allegheny Power installing MV AE 125 Series lights back in early 1989.

Didn't know BGE offers steel light poles for PAL service. Here the PALs are mostly on wooden poles.

Yes they do, they even offer shoeboxes and services them too and post tops and a few others! Easiest way to know if they are from the electrical company is the pole number! You can see it in the bottom of this pic....this one actually has two tags! This one viewable in the pic is for the AE fixture! They even use the brown tapered ones as PAL lights I've only seen the 6 foot versions used...I also see like 50 foot skinny metal poles with floods on provided by BGE!

Narragansett Electric was installing 250w HPS 125 around 1989......

Xcel energy started installing HPS in the EARLY 1980's. Repacing every single MV streetlight, so the early 80's were goodbye to Merc lights in Denver.

I read that my area started installing HPS in 1968 Shocked but most of the installs were still MV at the time. The old mercs stayed until sometime during the early 90s.

That is EARLY!!! I donno if there are any HPS here from 1968!

I know holyoke changed to HPS in the Early 70's

The earliest fixtures I know of from my local is 1976, I actually have a fixture from that time! A McGraw Edision Unistyle....also we have the GE M-250A1s from same time too! I have the powerdoor from that time.

Here's a pic of them in 1970. Those poles lasted until 2005 when they were replaced with new poles and AEL 125s.

The earliest HPS fixtures are mid-70's M-250A and M-250R (HPS versions existed mainly near Point Judith in Narragansett) and the very common M-400 split door here. The L-150 was somewhat common here too.

the L=150s were EXTREMELY common in MD State Highway Lighting for the early HPS!!!!

They were semi-common in 250w HPS for RIDOT's highways for spot replacement, but not too common. The L-150 and L-250 are very common in North Attelboro, MA though. Off Route 1 in the Swansea area every light is either a L-150 or L-250. Shocked in RI, they seemed to only be used for spot replacement....
