The lights are being replaced because the wiring and many of the poles (and the neighbourhood) are about 50 years old, so there have been some underground wire failures recently, plus they say the Twistpaks "Don't meet the city of Brampton's lighting standards and blah - blah - blah". Really the upgrades are not necessary, the roads they have done already are lit almost as well as many arterial roads which is rather outrageous. They won't even install new Twistpaks since they are no longer approved by the city and they say they don't light the road well enough (And they light these small streets fine.)

A lot of arterials here don't even use double arm streetlights on the corners. Shocked
gailgrove   [Sep 24, 2011 at 01:03 AM]
Yeah I don't know who would of though this was necessary.

Maybe the same people who put in ped signals in places with no sidewalks. Razz
streetlight98   [Sep 24, 2011 at 02:51 AM]
They do that here to. Rolling Eyes They'll put up a ped signal at an intersection with a traffic light in the countryside and there won't even be a sidewalk. Shocked

Here's a good one and this one is just weird.
gailgrove   [Sep 24, 2011 at 03:18 AM]
That second one is just funny!
Form109   [Sep 24, 2011 at 06:51 AM]
wow that's soooo funny. Laughing

Update: These poles still don't have fixtures, however poles that went up on other streets have OVHs. Mad Rolling Eyes Looks like we are now going FCO Sad
streetlight98   [Oct 04, 2011 at 01:48 AM]
The OVH cycle just as bad as the OVZ and OVX. Rolling Eyes OVH/G look cool with drop lenses though I've never seen one with an actual Cooper plastic lens. Not even a picture of one with a cooper lens.

Rolling Eyes Bleh more FCO lights. Mad
gailgrove   [Oct 04, 2011 at 01:53 AM]
It's the FCO that bothers me the most. Rolling Eyes
joe_347V   [Oct 04, 2011 at 01:57 AM]
I hate it when they mix FCO with drop lens. Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Oct 04, 2011 at 02:04 AM]
i do too. Mad Rolling Eyes
gailgrove   [Oct 04, 2011 at 02:08 AM]
I think it is now only going to be FCO, so I don't think I'll have to worry about that, I hope they don't start FCO conversions though, then I'll get mad.
joe_347V   [Oct 04, 2011 at 02:09 AM]
They spot replace with FCO here but it really depends what they have om the truck drop lens fixtures are still occasionally installed. Richmond Hill is 99.9% FCO though. Shocked
streetlight98   [Oct 04, 2011 at 02:18 AM]
N-Grid only installs drop lens thankfully.

We did up until about a month ago, it could change anytime, it was never announced this was happening.

Update: Nothing has happened with these lights yet, the TwistPaks are still up and running, my guess is they are waiting until spring to remove the old poles. The fixtures where installed in late November and are OVHs. Confused
TiCoune66   [Jan 23, 2012 at 08:46 PM]
Will you try to get a few of the old TwistPaks? I would like to get one, but I've never seen one in real, they're non-existent in my area.
gailgrove   [Feb 18, 2012 at 12:46 AM]
Update: The Twistpak came down today, the pole is still laying on the ground and only one other Twistpak on the road was actually taken down.
