SAT-24S Night Scene
here is the 44 watt SAT-24S located in front of my fathers house in Easthampton, MA. This replaced the 250 watt HPS AEL 115 that was originally there. I was surprised to see they were actually brighter than I thought. This maybe compares to a 100 watt MV which is pretty cool. The glare looks worse with the camera but you actually don't have that bad of glare.

It looks okay but it also has to put out enough light in 20 years. Rolling Eyes

yep, I agree Niall. I'm still not warming up to these yet.

100w mercury vapor still isn't that bright. Confused These only light a small portion of the road too and don't shine as far. The LEDs would have to be close to the same wattage as HPS to have the same lumen output. Rolling Eyes

Then why not convert to CMH then instead of messing with LEDs. Rolling Eyes

Actually they would have to be a much higher wattage than the HPS to produce the same lumens as HPS has a higher lumen per watt ratio.

Well they were rather bright in my opinion. the light was more central to the street and not homeowners yard but thats the desighn of these. also, it was raining out when I took this shot and the headlights from my car didn't help. They seemed to me, to be as bright as a 50 watt HPS or 100 watt MV.

That's horrible compared to the price and all the bull advertisment they put out for LEDs. CMH seems like a far better option. i don't find anything wrong with the HPS systems. The lamps are just garbage now. Mad Rolling Eyes It's about $$$ not quality, which is frustrating.

LED's certainly aren't brighter than HPS streetlights, I heard that Pittsburgh is possibly getting federal money to replace all 40,000 of their streetlights with LED's.

My father also doesn't live on a main road. You just would to have to see these in person. I'm not defending LEDs but these are brighter than you think. I would love to get one of these and compare to my OVG and we would truly see the comparison.
