Unless the server only allowed a very small bandwidth to our site, I don't think this would pose a problem. I never see more than a dozen guests at most. But maybe there are more at specific moments.
A 500 Internal Server Error would rather involve hardware or software issues on the server itself. What I got earlier today was a HTTP 500.
The frustrating thing for me is... I do have a IBM eServer X205 server, with hot-swappable hard drives. It only needs a minor RAM upgrade, bigger HDDs, a fresh Ubuntu Server installation, and it would be ready to host GoL! I even have 4 or 5 HP professionnal SFF PCs that could be used to store gallery pictures! But I can't really put a server in service for now... :C
