I swear it that lights here get replaced for no reason at all. Most replacements ive seen around here are on fully functional lights and yet the ones that haven't worked for over a year are still in the same state.

In my city, Montreal Quebec, failed lamps & fixtures get attented to in just a couple of days. A public works department fellow (paid sallary, car & other "perks"), drives around in the evenings checking for such failures.

Having said that, the municipal provincial & federal taxes we pay as citizens of this frozen land, is enough to push any red blooded American to war.

ahh so your lights are owned and maintained by the cities themselves? here they're basically all owned by the electric company. i think they rely mostly on people reporting that a light is out, at least enough to have a page to report outages.

Here lights are owned by the city and they're in the process of changing out to LED (I swear they work undercover of something, as I've yet to see a crew or I'd ask them for a R37 and a OV-15).  I don't think they're really planning on maintaining the existing HPS lights for that reason. My street is still HPS but I noticed other streets in my neighbourhood with LED so it's soon before the OV-15 on my street are changed out.

According to here the lights are from Philips, GE and LED Roadway Lighting. They sorta look like a 3500K ish colour at night and yes they are dimmer than the HPS lights they replaced. They're planning to finish off in April so I guess the last of the HPS lumes on residential streets will be gone soon.

So boring now that every residential street is filled with them, before we used to have a nice mix of R37, OV-15, R47, Unidor 150, OVZ, 115, on our streets.

Such a shame. yeah the same happened when a lot of places went from T12 to T8, they let most of the lamps fail. I was told that's how you could predict a T8 changeover was on the way. i guess on the flip side, they're atleast going to se GE, Philips and LRL lights instead of just one company.

LRL fixtures are made right in Canada too. i have a LRL sell sheet that i got from someone who works for NStar, a Massachusetts electric company. Maybe I'll scan it and upload it...

The residential streets here are still using HPS 95% of the time but they are showing up in higher numbers and more frequently now. LED's are going to kill off the rest of the residential shoebox's and twistpaks here. Not to mention the only underbraced arms here are already being killed off too by the Cooper NVN's. There were a 2 of them I know of that were replaced by new tapered e arm 115's. It was a R37 and the other was a OV-15

Well, they said online that they're multiple lumes but I think in reality these outnumber the other brands.



Fortunately a street in my neighbourhood was used a a test bed for LED so there's three different kinds of lumes in use there. (Philips, Cooper OVZ, and LRL lights) Well at least I'm glad that most of them are made in Canada though.

And what you said about the T8 changeout thing was so true, I know a supermarket that stayed T12 slimline for the longest time. The lights always had bad maintenance (dead lamps, dead ballasts) in the last two years leading up to the T5 conversion.

If anything, I hope I can acquire the OV-15 that's in front of my house for my collection. My house was built in 1982 so that's probably one of the last OV-15s made by Westinghouse. A newer section of my street, built in 1985 still used OV-15s but they were the Crouse Hinds ones.
