I think I know the song but I'm not 100% positive.  "She's not there"? is the line of the song I'm thinking of though I don't think it's BTO honestly.

Cold as Ice by Foreigner. 8)

This band was made popular for it's hit "Enter Sandman", though the song is mistakenly called "Off To Never-Never Land" by a lot of people, as that line is said in the chorus.

Is it that one song by America whose chorus is something to the effect of: You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name (or is it mane?)/ it felt good to be out of the rain/in the desert/you can't remember your name/cause there aint no none there to give you no pain

This song by a group whose name is what you'd be doing going toward a sunrise talks about someone watching someone else, or at leasts that's what I gain from it.  I also woke up at 4AM with it stuck in my head...

OOps! That song is either about the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly and a bunch of other musicians, or the JFK assasination depending who you ask in my experience.

It does ring a bell but for whatever reason I'd always assumed it was a car! (Not that I'm that familiar with car models anyway!).
