I'm getting my vintage industrial shoplight any day now, I removed it from it's original location yesterday and will be bringing it home soon
I want to mount it on my bathroom ceiling
I use HID lamps as decorations/modern art too.

It's been awhile, so in order to bring this topic back up...
I tested my .8A Advance ballast and it works!
My GE BonusLine ballast has a minor tar leak but nothing serious...
It's snowing like crazy at the moment...

Nah I haven't tested the assumed-dead Advance ballast yet, however the ballast in my shoplight does have a tar leak...
I'm guessing #2 for you, and I hope #3 is going to work very well for you!
I've had the song "My Sharona" by the Knack stuck in my head for weeks.
I might spray-paint the top of my shoplight bright neon florescent day-glo yellow.
I have a 1950s Westinghouse  60w incandescent bulb.

It WAS #2...some people HATE that song though...someone I know thinks it and "Simply Irresistable" are the worst songs ever...
I just keep hoping you can get the proper ballast for all your vintage 400w MV lamps :)
How can you be in school? You still in college or something? Could be #1 or#2, but I think it's #3...
I might end up painting the top of my rescued shoplight florescent Day-Glo yellow temporarily...
I don't have any 8' slimline fixtures, ballasts, or lamps
I get migrane headaches from half-wave LED Christmas lights and rectifying florescents..

College in Canada is usually called university since college here usually refers to a community college.
Shipping to Canada is a pain sometimes because of the high shipping charges.
I bought a traffic light online once.

We're getting dumped on as far as snow is concerned
I have a 40KW generator at my house
I've had to walk up lots of stairs to 96 feet above sea level to the top of a lighthouse to get cell reception to make a call

I broke the window on one of my PCs.

Seems this needs to be made popular again so...
the ballast in my Sears shoplight died last night with a nasty smell and sparks and smoke to boot.
I have nine spare GE MainLighters, not counting the three in use.
I've discovered that if you must tape florescent tubes together (even I don't endorse it but ya gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes) electrical tape works the best because it likes to shrink, thus holding the tubes together securely for transporting.

1. i have a old CGE clock
2. I bought 53W halogens today and put them in the basement lights.
3. I bought fuse holders for the two fluorescents.

I fired up a 400w coated MH tonight in one of my Lithiona Hi-Tek highbays which I put a new cord on
I also tested a clear Sylvania MetalArc
It was previously wired up in a very laughable way with Romex...
