What drop refractor is on this?
lite_lover   [Mar 03, 2010 at 05:40 AM]
It's a Westy style glass refractor that you would normally see on a Westy OV-15,Cooper Canada OV-15,OVX,optional on OVZ,AE 113,313,115,315.

i like it better with the Drip Lense too.
GullWhiz   [Mar 03, 2010 at 11:07 AM]
New York City currently is full of those!

Also this is refractor you would also see on OV-15 Tudor and L-150 and OVS!

Cool that NYC has them, would they still be OVG,since OVH is the same with FCO? Yeah very true also on the ones you mentioned.
GullWhiz   [Mar 03, 2010 at 11:13 AM]
yes I used to have the OVH....its same just with FCO...the NYC is using the drop refractors!

I've seen many Cooper OVGs with the same kind of refractors in Allegheny Power's service area.

Our utility has been installing a few of these fixtures with FCO (OVH) with a bare aluminum finish.
LilCinnamon   [Dec 02, 2010 at 05:08 AM]
Do you think you can take a pic of the insides of this fixture?

This looks pretty good with a drop lens. I am gonna fit my OVH with a drop lens and take a pic of it!

And what I meant up there was: What FIXTURE was this drop refractor from?
Form109   [Nov 01, 2011 at 05:27 AM]
looks like an AEL Refractor to me.
GullWhiz   [Nov 01, 2011 at 02:54 PM]
Actually the more correct would be the Holophane refractor...

Those refractors first appeared on the OV-15....
Later it appeared in the ITT Model 13s

So it's not really an AEL or a Cooper or any of them..it was made by the Holophane factory...ORGINALLY for the Westinghouse OV-15....99% of our OVX in MD has those refractors so does the OV-15......

So basically Holophane makes refractors for other companies.....

It was the same thing for the Pryex who used to make refractors for the American Electric, Line Materials and Westinghouse! They all looked exactly the same but some of them had the brand logo added....

I have two Westinghouse refractors with the above refractor, which you Devonte, like to call it the AEL refractor, has a Westinghouse logo on them!

So basically it's not really an AEL refractor, nor a Coooper refractor, or even a Westinghouse refractor which was the original fixture that had em....but an Holophane refractor!
joe_347V   [Nov 01, 2011 at 07:21 PM]
The Powerlites also came with Holophane refractors too, the R47 used a generic one and the B2255 used one with the Powerlite logo on it.
streetlight98   [Nov 01, 2011 at 08:41 PM]
Well, virtually every glass refractor is Holophane......
joe_347V   [Nov 01, 2011 at 11:28 PM]
Pyrex, and Kopp also made refractors at one point...
