Sylvania Super Saver Halogen 72A17/HAL/SS/CL 72w
Okay I've bought these due to the bulb size being A-17 instead of A-19. What's the deal with that?

US made too.

Sylvania chose the A-17 size to use less packaging etc but this year they decided to go back to the A-19 size. What do you think of this bulb? Soon this will be all you can buy besides CFLs, LEDs, RS incs etc.

And less glass, right? I like the looks of these; they would suit me just fine for places CFLs just aren't suitable..

how many watts are the 75W replacements? If they're 60W or less i may start using them for more light without it showing in my parent's electrical bill! Idea Keeping the bill the same price while adding light is always good! I guess i personally like overlit rooms lol. Especially the garage and basement. Can't ever have too much light in those places LOL. Same for yard lighting, though only for when we're outside. The 70W PSMH wall light i mounted barely gets any use lol. When we have parties or we cook on the grill this time of year, we need the extra light though.

Mike, you made me break out the "calculator" on my computer. Here's what I discovered...
Well a 100w replacement using 72w is using 72% of the energy of the bulb it is intended to replace. This is why the 60w replacemnt ones use only 43w...so the 75w replacement would use about 54w...so yes it would work! Actually, if you're using it to replace a 60w bulb you'll save a few watts AND have more light to boot! I've been known to do exactly that with CFLs before...
Does your PSMH light still have the ignitor disconnected and a 100w Sylvania /DX mercury vapor lamp installed?
streetlight98   [Nov 14, 2012 at 12:35 AM]
No I reconnected the ignitor with the PSMH lamps back in September. The MV lamp wasn't really bright enough and bugs liked it more. I have a few 100W MV "cram" lamps if you want one. Not sure how shipping to Alaska would be though. Shocked I'm sure I'd arrive fine but I don't know if they'd charge international since it'd need to pass through Canada...

I unfortunately don't have any 100w ballasts and am currently not in a position to accept lamps from other members at this point...'
But if you ever have to ship something to Alaska in the future for someone else, I don't think you need to pay international fees...at least if it gets "Priority-Mailed" which is what I do. Postage is ridiculous though when my mom in California and I send stuff to each other...

Hey Andy, you have a Lowe's in your area? Lowe's sells the 100w MV cram for around 20 bucks which might be cheaper than getting one shipped in.

No, I don't even know if they exist in my state...but I'll keep an eye out anyway...
