Venture 100w MH Ballast
Another Restore find from yesterday. Here's a 100w Venture MH ballast I also picked up. Since it's potted in epoxy, it's almost silent when running. It's shown here running a 125w mercury lamp since I don't have any 100w MH lamps. I believe 100w MH ballasts should be spot on for the 125w lamps. The ballast also came with a ignitor but I took it out for obvious reasons.

125w were somewhat common here back in the day, they were used in freeway sign lighting floodlights and in some wallpacks.

ahh just a regular ballast drowned in epoxy? Laughing Interesting how it's not permanetly sealed, as the ballast can't really be replaced. is the igniter mounted in there too? that would explain why the case has a lid but it doesn't look large enough to hold an igniter.

Yeah Laughing What I find interesting with this is that only the core is actually permanently sealed in the case but I guess this lets you change the ignitor and/or cap (both are separate but the ignitor wasn't in the pic) if they fail. I believe the ballast was supposed to bolt on the side of a recessed light housing or something like that so it didn't come with a lid. I think I'll slap a square junction box on it though.
