Crouse-Hinds OV-15 100 Watt HPS
|
Here is a picture showing the electrical gear inside the NOS Crouse-Hinds OV-15. The ballast is 240V so unfortunately there is not a easy way to fire this up. Unless I plug it in to the dryer outlet or remote-ballast it.

I always found it odd that 100/150W ballasts were a thing. They had 100/175W MV ballasts, so I'd think that either 50/100 or 70/100W HPS ballasts would be logical, as one fixture would replace 100 and 175W MV, just like how one fixture was needed for 100 and 175W MV installations. They used lots of 100/175W MV ballasts here. All were 240V chokes and all had PC sockets wired for 120V (so the power supply consisted of two hots and a neutral). They never used multi-tap HPS ballasts here though (maybe they use 250/400W for flood lights but we don't have 150W HPS so the 100W HPS are single-wattage. We never had 250W MV here either).
