How did I take this picture?? I CAN tell you the camera was laying on the concrete. AND I was not in a car.

You took the picture when the road was closed off?
SeanB~1   [Oct 29, 2011 at 05:55 AM]
Nice angle there. You were on the pedestrian crossing?
Form109   [Oct 29, 2011 at 07:03 AM]
looks like he's right in the middle of the road.

The camera WAS right in the middle of the road.

the road looks likle it's under construction. The asphalt isn't even.

You mean concrete Razz

I guess the road was closed off at the time for construction since those signs in the corner along with the pole look really new. Those grooves in the concrete are known as tining and help to provide traction...although that's what contributes to that "TIE fighter" sound you hear when driving over it. Laughing

Strange. We use asphalt on our roads here.
joe_347V   [Oct 29, 2011 at 06:29 PM]
Our roads are all asphalt but some of our freeways use concrete...we even have a freeway from the early 70s with parts of the original concrete left.
streetlight98   [Oct 29, 2011 at 06:34 PM]
Our newest bridges are concrete, but all of our roads and almost all of our bridges are asphalt.

Concrete is big here. ON I-70 between Denver and the borderline of Kansas, I-70 is ALL concrete! Except for one small part.

The grooves make the noise if they are going horizontal on the road, going from the one side to the other. But the don't make the noise if they go vertical, going along with the lanes, like in this picture.

This is probably the BEST shot you have ever made and that I have ever SEEN from YOU Ian! GREAT JOB Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

You can see the 125's off in the distance.

BTW, RIGHT behind me where I took this picture is where I found my first Model 25. This was the intersection where they took down that model 25 and are working on the road, so yes, the road was closed. But I parked the car far away so I walked quite a ways to this place. xD

I did find the yard for this project, they had some of the new Metal Halide Circular lights that are going around in these areas on the ground.
I went in the yard to find someone and ask them about if they had leftover streetlights.. But the person IN there was a jerk and threatened to call the cops for "walking on private property" >.> So I didn't get to see if they had any old lights. I bet this yard is out of the equation...
