The inside of the OVM . Not shown here but there's a rather long socket extention , the longest i'v seen It's about 4 inches long. The ballast is a COOPER CW ballast with multivolt taps With a porcelain termanal block.
Man! What a beautiful light! The OVM, OVS, and OVC are my favorite Cooper fixtures. I like the L-150 too but for some reason I'm not a big fan of the L-250. I think the boxy fixture looks weird with a round lens lol.
Ah yeah I'm not a huge fan of the big unidors either. The small Unidors are okay though lol. Not a huge fan of the Unistyle 400 either but I love the McGraw-Edison version o the Unistyle 175. (the McGraw version has the PC a little further up than the Line Material version. The Line Material version practically had the PC "falling off" the fixture lol.) Here's the LM version. And here's the McGraw-Edison version, which I prefer. See how the McG version has the PC in a much more "natural" spot? lol
It makes you wonder though, what would Cooper's street lights look like if they chose to keep McGraw-Edison's designs instead of Westinghouse's designs? And same for Acuity Brands. They bought American Electric from Thomas & Betts and bought Powerlite from Sylvania. What if they chose Powerlite's designs instead of American Electrics? It would be cool if Cooper and AEL made both companys' lights
Although the lights they have now barely resemble the Westinghouse lights anyways so who knows lol. I guess it went L-150 to OVS to OVX and L-250 to OVM to OVD/Y/F and they added the OVC around 1990 and it became the OVZ. Then they added the OVH/G. And the OV-50/OVL just stayed the same lol.
You mean the M-1000? Yeah the OVM looks so much smaller up on the pole! It looks smaller than a M-400R2 or newer M-400 when i see these on the freeway but they're pretty big, lots of room inside i see! You can probably fit a 1000W MH ballast in this and then use cram lamps lol. can u post a comparison pic of this and the M-1000?
