GE COMPAX
Here you see a GE preheat COMPAX lamp. This is I believe the predecessor to the 16w FLB/17 model in my gallery and I daresay it's light is much nicer than the pinkish glow of the FLB/17 that's even warmer/pinker/uglier (I don't like warm white (prefer cool white or daylight LOL) but these are cool anyway) than the stock lamps in LOA preheat 22w circline adapters.
I've fired this up multiple times, and I can't see the starter glow so I'm guessing it's hidden somewhere inside or is really blackened. That doesn't seem to be the case though as it starts WAY faster than the FLB/17 (I compared them side-by-side in a vintage Eagle Y-adapter).
Anybody know where the starter is located in these? In the FLB/17 it's in the base/ballast compartment and you can see it through the vents (the FLB/15 COMPAX has none).
