This the gymnasium I knew in primary school!
This room is literally a part of my childhood. I remember lots of things from that gym, including the high bays! But I think my memory is playing me tricks, since I thought there were Appleton Baymasters up there. Actually it's a mix of what seems to be Sylvania fixtures and some unknown replacements with acrylic or poly refractors. I do remember that there were NO refractors on them, only metal wire guards (like my high bay has).

I could have taken more pics, but today the gym was used as a polling place (since it's poll day here in Québec LOL), so I was kinda afraid to openly take pics of the place. I just discreetly snatched a pic from the exit door xD

Interesting picture, my old gym had wireguarded surface mount troffers using 2 F40T12 lamps in rows. The last time I was there (which was also for an election Laughing ) the lights were retrofitted for T8.

Cool! My elementary school had probe start 400W MH glass GE highbays with flat clear glass bottoms. I remember seeing borken lamps inside them contained in the tempered glass bottom. I remember it was a hot day so the gym lights were off (and the T12 fluorescents, which were probably designed to be for when the lamps had to hot restrike were on instead). I wanted to see the lights turn on so when the gym teacher left, i stuck the clip of a plastic pen cap in the little key type switch and they all started up. Then the gym teacher came back and i lost recess. I got to see the lamps all warm up which i thought was AWESOME! Very Happy

My elementary school got a huge T8 infestation inside the building and a huge LED infestation outside the building. The recessed cans in the auditorium were converted from incandescent to LED though and the exit signs got replaced from PL to LED. The good news is that they retrofitted the T12s except for in the library and cafeteria since the opal 4X4 diffusers were a PITA to handle and were all broken anyways. they got replaced by two 3 lamp T8 4X2 troffers side by side. I'm wondering if there are still MH lights on the stage... There were T12 troffers and keyless incandescent lampholders too. The building was built in 1992.

In my middle school there used to be 400W MH lobays with the same style refractor as the Lithonia CXD. At fist i thought they WERE the CXD, but now i think they were the Genlyte thomas version since the reflectors were totally smooth. I actually HAD the opportunity to get one in 7th grade! It was at the end of the day and i was in the gym with everyone else waiting for my bus and they had the lift and were changing out the lights. There were a few metal highbays as replacements too, one had a clear merc in it! it was dimmer than all the other lights and i remember it having a long arc tube. anyways, i didn't ask for a highbay since i would be embarrased taking it home on ths bus. Rolling Eyes Mad I would have "missed" the bus if i had a cell phone at the time and asked for one when everyone else left but i guess i wasn't that smart in 7th grade lol. The school is from 1970 so the original lights were probably mercs or maybe clear mercs with the incandescent tandem to improve CRI.

By the time i got to my high school all the highbays (of lowbays) had been changed to six lamp motion sensor T8 highbays, the same with all the Cranston Public Schools. Apparently there were also HIDs in the vocational building but they're T8 now too. I saw the school district electricians removing the outdoor MH floods and MV wallpacks but i passed them up because it was during school. I told my physics teacher and she said if i get anything from now on i can keep it in her room until the end of the day. Cool My high scool was built in the 50s so the original highbays were probably clear mercs with incandescent tandems for CRI improvement.
